What is This Really About?
Why are we here?
There's a bigger question to be asked right now.
But who do we trust?
There was a time where I felt safest in the hospital. It's what I knew, what I trusted, what I thought felt safe.
Until it no longer did.
I couldn't unsee what I was seeing.
The harms.
The interventions.
The poor outcomes.
But I did also see compassion, caring, and miracles.
There seemed to be a wide contradiction and conflict happening, and I began to ask questions.
There has to be another way.
There was.
The problem we are seeing today is that the hospitals no longer feel safe. Our trust in medical professionals has been broken. We've seen the effects of regulation on the care that's provided.
Women are seeking better.
They deserve better.
But how can we create better when it's fragmented?
Those who speak up to medical institutions are terminated or their licenses at risk. More fear is placed on keeping licenses than providing the best possible care for women and families.
What we need is for women to be heard.
For truth to be shared.
For birth to be honoured.
Physiology taught.
We aren't finding it.
So we are doing it ourselves.
Birth has been fragmented.
Instead of asking better questions
"Why are women choosing out of system care?"
The industry turns on women, shaming. Sending out cease and desists to those wanting to do better, posting warnings about unregulated and unauthorized care. Trying to shut down Reclaiming Birth Gathering
Instead of coming together, they want to eliminate choice and keep women in their services.
So what do we do?
We do it ourselves.
But there's a gap. In knowledge, experience, help.
How do we change this?
We come together.
We listen to women and families.
We listen to different providers
We listen to each other.
We come together because we know change needs to happen.
Birth has been hijacked for a long time, and it's not going to resolve overnight.
But it also won't change if we wait and do nothing.
This is why Reclaiming Birth Gathering exists.
Women, babies, and families deserve better.
Change begins with us.
Uniting.
And working together to create change.
Restoring trust in birth, ourselves, and each other.
This work matters
You matter.
The future generations - matter.
